Recurrent Names Top Electric Vehicles for 2025 Based on Range, Charging and Efficiency
The research team at Recurrent analyzes more than 350 million electric vehicle (EV) miles each year — the equivalent of 1,400 trips between the Earth and moon — to help people buy and sell an EV with confidence. For the 2025 model year, researchers assessed more than 200 all-electric vehicle configurations to award the top performers.
Recurrent Awards recognize excellence in range, charging, and efficiency for different vehicle types and price points. These factors influence the buying decisions of EV shoppers, according to surveys of Recurrent’s community of 30,000 owners and data from April’s EV Market Report. The awards are designed to give shoppers trustworthy data to find the right vehicle for their needs.

- Longest Range Small Electric Car: Nissan LEAF
- Longest Range Electric Sedan: Tesla Model S
- Longest Range Electric Crossover: Audi Q6 e-tron

“Our goal is to make it easier for people to understand how each EV performs in the real world — in all weather, all conditions, and for all kinds of drivers,” said Scott Case, CEO at Recurrent. “Range, charging times and efficiency are often apples-to-oranges metrics from one vehicle to another, and too complicated for most people to compare. We’re making it easier.”
About the Awards Methodology
For 2025, 206 vehicle configurations (make-model-trim) were analyzed.
- Longest Range Awards are based on the unadjusted EPA efficiency filings, the usable battery capacity of each vehicle and observational data from our community of owners.
- Fastest Charging Awards are based on two empirical tests and one value from the automakers to generate a proprietary value called Recurrent Time to Add 100 miles.
- Most Efficient Awards are based on combined efficiency in miles per kilowatt hour, as reported to the EPA.
