# Can Recurrent Unlock or Turn on My Car?

## Heading

No. Recurrent has read-only access to your data, which means we cannot modify anything.

### What about Tesla Virtual Key?

Tesla's Virtual Key is just the name of Tesla's updated permissions – it is **not an actual key to your car**. Recurrent maintains the same permissions you originally granted, which are read-only and pertain to charging.

Permission for any car can be revoked at any time from your vehicle's app or in your [Driver Dashboard](/content/dashboard/index.html). Similarly, if you change the password to your car's app, we will lose access.
