Comparative Insights

Every electric vehicle battery has a usable lifespan for transportation purposes. As the battery ages, it holds less energy (meaning lower range) and doesn't accelerate as quickly (lower power). We use a machine learning approach to compare each car to thousands of others to estimate the remaining lifespan based on its history and likely future battery degradation. All comparisons are based on Recurrent's Expected Range — our real-world observed performance baseline — not dashboard figures or EPA ratings. Future predictions are uncertain because of variations in driving, charging, and external forces such as temperature.

The purple band in this module shows the typical range variance we project for similar vehicles. Your vehicle's location within this band may change slightly month to month as we gather more data and continue to refine the shape of the band, and as your vehicle ages. It does not necessarily indicate permanent changes to battery health.

A note for Tesla owners: Expected Range for Tesla is lower than the dashboard figure, typically around 80–85% of what the dashboard displays for older model years. This is expected — Recurrent's estimates reflect real-world driving performance rather than Tesla's fixed efficiency calculation. The comparison shown in this module reflects how your Tesla performs against other Teslas on the same basis, so the band remains a meaningful benchmark for your vehicle.
